The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang (third left), attends a session entitled "Innovation and the New Economy of Hong Kong" in the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2016 in Hainan today (March 24). Co-organised by the Innovation and Technology Bureau, the session features panel discussions on how innovation and technology drive the economy to a new level. The Founding President of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong, Professor Tsui Lap-chee (first left), is the moderator of the panel discussions. Other panellists include the Kim B Clark Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, Professor Clayton Christensen (second left); the Group Chairman of the Fung Group, Dr Victor Fung (first right); Managing Partner of Qiming Venture Partners Ms Nisa Leung (fourth right); founder and Chief Executive Officer of WeLab Mr Simon Loong (third right); and founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nest Investments Mr Simon Squibb (second right).

Mr Yang (centre) said Hong Kong has edges on various fronts for developing innovation and technology, such as talents and social and economic system. He believes Hong Kong will benefit from the opportunities bring about by "re-industrialisation" and "Internet +".
